Identity for a Young Dance Company

Atlanta Dance Collective was founded in 2015 by Sarah Stokes and Britt Whitmoyer Fishel in Atlanta, Georgia. The collaborative group has now grown to a total of five dancers, whose mutual mission is to create socially engaging contemporary work.

Mission Statement

Atlanta Dance Collective strives to connect the world through dance. We pursue creative distinction and social pertinency by creating vital new works, collaborating with new artists, and serving our community through our practice.

Process

Sarah wanted an identity for Atlanta Dance Collective that expressed movement with a modern, clean aesthetic. In particular, she hoped for a symbol that could stand alone that emulated multiple parts working together, representing the members of the collective working together for a common cause.

The "A" symbol represents Atlanta, movement, the ever-changing shape of the dancer's body.

Atlanta Dance Collective is set in the typeface Teko. The typeface is uniform and narrow, providing a strong base for the energetic "A" to be balanced against.

They work in partnership, exemplifying grace and strength, as dancers do.
