My best friend Katie and I have always shared a deep love of movies. In college we bonded over our shared love of Jurassic Park, and other classics we grew up watching.
We came to realize that we both had memories of some pretty strange childhood films that the other, and no else for that matter, had ever head of—Darby O’Gill (Katie) and Little Nemo: Adventure in Slumberland (me).
We started asking our friends about their strangest childhood favorites, and the idea for a podcast was born…
Inspired by the infamous phrase found on every rented VHS tape—'Be kind, rewind.'—we named our podcast Rewind/Review, where we would revisit old movies and then discuss them through a modern lens.
The Concept:Rewind/Review is a weekly podcast where your hosts, Katie & Lauren, watch and discuss the unique and defining movies from their guests’ childhoods.
When creating the logo and brand for our new creative outlet, we both wanted to incorporate imagery that reminded us of the good ol’ 90s. Using a monospace, digital-inspired typeface and a VHS illustration, we were able to evoke these memories. These nostalgic touches were paired with a modern, vibrant color palette and illustration style to stand out amongst the many podcast covers in your favorite podcast app.
We were lucky to have many friends, new and old, join us and share memories of their favorite childhood movies.
