Census Open Innovation Labs (COIL): Census Accelerate is a team within the U.S. Census Bureau whose mission is to tap into the nation’s creative* talent to broaden and amplify the reach and impact of digital content about the 2020 Census, in order to increase response rates and ensure that everyone gets their fair share of resources and representation.
*this means designers, writers, storytellers, content strategists, SEO-ninjas, meme-makers, podcasters, artists, cartoonists, and more—all making creative assets that help our nation get a complete and accurate count.
This beta version of the Creator Toolkit was developed together with a team of volunteer writers and designers to be used at the first Creatives for the Count event during Design Week Portland.
This initial creative sprint was focused on building a collection of content that can get out the count for Census 2020 and serve as a model for individuals, agencies and creative organizations at future creator events.
